Patient Account Representative (Location - Springfield, IL)

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing claims to make sure that payer specific billing requirements are met, following up on billing, determining and applying appropriate adjustments, answering inquiries and updating accounts as necessary.

Responsibilities
Serving as a liaison between insurance carriers and clients, the incumbent will process and review Medicaid primary and secondary claims, review and research various reports and process Medicaid status files. The patient account representative is also responsible for answering the reception phone in the absence of the billing assistant.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred
1-2 years of high volume medical billing and/or insurance claims processing experience required.
1-2 years of customer service experience preferred.
Compliance with HIPAA guidelines required.
Knowledge and understand of coding and medical insurance billing concepts.
Knowledge of third party reimbursement processes.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
